Here's hoping that more mods won't have to be made after this patch to address new issues. This makes sense considering how dedicated Square Enix is to NieR Replicant fans.
It is unfortunate that the first sign of reprieve for the issues with NieR Replicant had to come from fan-made mods, but it seems Square Enix took the almost two months since release to make serious progress toward improving the game. It's quite common for a game to release with some bugs, especially if it's a remaster of a title initially released over a decade ago. However, the remaster also features changes to some characters and combat. Because Nier Replicant is a remaster of the game that was originally released in 2010, the title featured some basic modifications due to upgrades in technology since its initial release, such as graphics. According to Inmate7269 on Reddit, who had the Japanese remastered version pre-installed on their PS4, Version 1.01 adjusted the volume balance throughout the game, added DLC support, and fixed several bugs, while version 1.02 fixed a few more minor bugs. This patch will make the game version 1.03, which implies that there were 1.01 and 1.02 updates that did not feature significant enough changes to be widely reported when they were implemented. The game was having issues on day 1 of its release, so much so that mods were made to address some of them. This patch will support the game displaying at 60fps, as opposed to the original 30fps. Fan Creates Patch To Fix Nier: Automata’s Graphics Nier: Automata is a fine video game, but it also has some technical problems on PC which are a bit of a bummer. It's daft that we've had to use a fan-made fix to run it in the correct resolution or stop cutscenes stuttering. The patch, which will be released at 9 am PDT/5 pm BST, will address framerate and other display issues, optimizing the Geforce Experience, game freezes and other minor bugs (via NieR Series/Twitter). As much as I adore Nier: Automata (degree: a lot), I cannot deny the PC version is a bit bum and has been since it launched four years ago.
